Quality fish! We would definitely come again to try out their other options. Seemed like they have a lot of loyal customers which says a lot about them. Service was solid, ambiance could use work as there was this bad odor in the air (like bathroom smells)

High quality sushi at a reasonable price! Came here from the recommendation of a friend who said they have a great deal on their omakase, which was $46 at the time of our visit. I opted to order the sushi deluxe which came with 9 pieces of nigiri and and a rock n' roll, all for the great price of $34. Fish was fresh and pieces were a good standard size. We joined the waitlist on Yelp on our way over and only had to wait a couple minutes before a table was ready. It seems like they get pretty crowded, so definitely worth joining the waitlist to save some time! Front parking lot was super crowded, but there's additional parking on the side of the shopping center which was plentiful when I was there.

Yesterday was my first time trying Amami, despite all my friends having gone multiple times already! My friend and I both opted for the omakase set, which is a fantastic deal--10 pieces of nigiri for $46. The fish was incredibly fresh and served with a side of fresh wasabi. Although it's not your traditional omakase, it was still delicious. We also ordered the Hamachi Kama, which was nicely charred, and an order of tempura. The service was quick and friendly. The restaurant is located in a small strip plaza with challenging parking, but there are additional spaces in the back if the front lot is full. At times, it can get pretty loud since it's a small restaurant, but overall, it was a great experience.

My bf and I love going to Amami for omakase! It's such a good deal at 10 pieces for under $50. And their slices of fish on the nigiri are super long! Each piece can pretty much be split into two bites. The fish usually tastes pretty fresh, and I like the variety of fish it comes with (we love our salmon around here)! I've been on an uni kick lately so we've been ordering it whenever I see it on the menu. Unfortunately, I've had mixed experiences with the uni here. The first time we got it, it was sooo good, almost as good as the uni we had in Japan! I can't remember if we got the Santa Barbara or the Hokkaido that time. However, when we got the Hokkaido this weekend, it didn't taste very fresh and was very fishy. I was sooo disappointed! T___T Maybe we can try the Santa Barbara again next time. We also always get some kind of specialty roll when we're here, just to complement the omakase, but their rolls honestly aren't anything to write home about. My bf loves the main server here and finds him hilarious! He always makes the most random jokes. I can see ppl finding him super funny or super abrasive. In our case, it's a special touch with this place!

Came here for evening dinner, and they ran out of Toro. My spirits were smashed but their omakase was good. We got the melt in your mouth sushi roll, oysters in addition to the omakase and we were fed lol will come back per usual but maybe at an earlier time. #lessonlearned friendly and helpful staff, very clean and great quality fish!

I really enjoy the quality of their fish! I've been here 1-2 times and both times the highlight was their sashimi / nigiri, especially the salmon! I think the size of the cut is okay for the price and it tastes really fresh. I also like the taste of their wasabi. Their Uni is also pretty good and tastes fresh. I have tried a few of their rolls and it tastes pretty average to me. I think the flavor is just not as strong maybe?

Went here with the hubby for a late lunch and we were not disappointed. They food was very good and the servers were nice. The place is quite small but plenty of seats. I would imagine they get busy on weekends. It's also very clean here. I got the baked scallop roll... and it was very yummy! First time for me finishing a roll. We also got the veggie tempura... didn't know they included eggplants in it.. hubby took them since I'm allergic. Hubby got the omakase and the pieces were huge! Some fish looked like it was the same type but different cuts.

Amami Shima is one of my go-to sushi restaurant in the Bay! The service is quick and it's pretty easy getting a table even though the restaurant is always pack on weekend nights. They have an amazing 10 piece omakase set that has THE BEST fish to rice ratio. The fish is so fresh and thick cut on a small bed of rice. Even with the little amount of rice, you can get definitely get full from this set alone. My boyfriend and I usually do 1 set of omakase per person, an order of oyster shooter, a specialty roll, baby o-toro nigiri, and uni nigiri. The star of the show is the baby o-toro nigiris so you better try it!!

I love this place! They have a great omakase offer ($46) for 10 pieces. I usually get the omakase and tai carpaccio. The tai carpaccio has an amazing sauce in the center that I usually keep to eat with my omakase. Service every time I've been has been good. One thing is that the restaurant is a little cramped, but once seated it's okay. The parking lot is small but I've always been able to find parking either in the lot or on the street. I would definitely recommend!
